Wide Area Networking

A wide area network (wan) is a group of devices located remotely and connected via electronic links. This network can bridge between towns, cities or continents. The network connects Local Area Networks together which contain the end-user PCs, printers etc. These sites are cabled to a router which then sends information accross the WAN.

A WAN allows a company to share information accross geographically distributed sites in order to maximise data processing and business efficiency.

The aim of a WAN is to help your business improve:
  • employee productivity / communications
  • reduction/control of costs
  • information management
  • standardization of hardware/software usage

Whether you need to connect 2 sites, 50 sites or 100’s of sites; Abtec's Wide Area Networking portfolio is designed to meet your precise communication requirements. Our WAN solutions are about far more than just providing you with bandwidth; they're about maximising your business efficiency - making sure you get the most from your network. Whoever you are and wherever you are, this area within our portfolio has been carefully selected to be able to accommodate any size of company with any type of communication network

A WAN provides expandibility to your office communications infrastructure and link between sites.

IP Clear is BT’s unbundled UK IP VPN service, using the BT MPLS network, which provides the platform for company intranets, extranets, inter-site business connectivity and convergence of voice and data. It is a wires only service that does not include a managed router.IP-Clear allows customers to create IP VPNs over BT Global Services' MPLS IP network. Ideal for corporate customers looking to link their geographically dispersed sites in order to exchange information. IP Clear offers secure and integrated dial access to the corporate network. What's more, IP Clear will seamlessly inter-work with other IP enabled data services, allowing customers to create networks based on a mixture of services, or migrate gradually to IP from more traditional services.

Features
  • IP Clear provides 'any-to-any' connectivity via MPLS
  • There is no need to configure and manage multiple permanent virtual circuits (PVCs) between sites
  • New sites can be added easily - all that is required is an access circuit
  • It also offers tremendous scalability
  • IP Clear accesses will be available in speeds from 256 kbit/s to 155 Mbit/s
  • IP Clear provides integrated Dial access for teleworkers/roaming sales forces/small offices

BT Kilostream

KiloStream is part of BT’s Digital Private Circuits portfolio, and offers transmission speeds from 2.4kbit/s to 904kbit/s. It meets the needs of customers requiring just a single data or voice connection between two sites. Digital Private Circuits support a variety of applications such as email, intranet & internet connectivity, corporate data network/WAN, data/file transfer or storage, and data back-up. KiloStream is a wires only, uncontended service, with high reliability and national coverage. For companies that communicate regularly or at a length from the same locations, KiloStream digital services will help them to enjoy substantial cost savings. KiloStream is primarily used for data applications, but can provide both data and voice transmissions and can also replace a number of co-routed analogue private circuits. KiloStream is a range of private circuits for dedicated, full-time connection between two locations in all business areas of the UK. They offer transmission speeds from 2.4kbit/s to 960 kbit/s and a range of interfaces, including X.21 and X21 bis (V.24 and V.35). Features

  • Kilostream offers a wide range of speeds from 2.4kbit/s up to 960 kbit/s.Because KiloStream does not require the use of modems, it can the reduce costs of analogue services and improve the overall quality and reliability.
  • High quality and physical point-to-point connectivity also assures high levels of security - with TotalCare also included within rental price.
  • The geographical coverage extends to over 99% of the UK, making BT the only network supplier able to offer private circuits throughout the UK.

BT MegaStream

MegaStream is part of BT’s Digital Private Circuits portfolio, and offers transmission speeds from 2Mbps to 622Mbps, ideal for high volumes of voice and data traffic with high quality results. It will meet the needs of customers requiring just a single data or voice connection between two sites to those customers with growing bandwidth requirements. Digital Private Circuits support a variety of applications such as email, intranet & internet connectivity, corporate data network/WAN, data/file transfer or storage, and data back-up. MegaStream is a wires only, uncontended service, offering high reliability and national coverage.
