The world's biggest half marathon - the BUPA Great North Run celebrated it's 25th anniversary in 2005. The first Great North Run was on June 28th 1981 with 12,000 runners. Since the first staging, a total of 8,027,758 miles have been run and 642,221 people have crossed the finish line. The BUPA Great North Run is a point to point 13.1 mile course that starts in Newcastle and finishes in South Shields.

On the 6th October 2005, Andy Beynon, Abtec MD completed the industry-recognised CTP qualification with an impressive score of 92%.
